Smoothies are not just for Saturdays, but it happens to be Saturday and I am finally feeling back to normal after all the Thanksgiving celebrations. Smoothies, yoga, and running were key players to finding normalcy, especially healthy smoothies filled with holiday-esque ingredients.

Two weeks ago, Jamie, Liz and I made healthy-ish, boozy cocktails for the Fit Approach Facebook Live Healthy-ish Holiday Cocktail Party. It involved bourbon and champagne. It also involved coconut “Irish Cream” and tasty, chocolate Designer Protein, making it a well-rounded Friday morning. That was just the beginning of a week of all the sweets, wine, cheese and other rich foods, and the beginning of a very long hangover. img_8457

There’s boozy affogattos in those cups 😉

Then there were the three Thanksgiving meals I attended last week, not including the fourth one I attended the morning after Thanksgiving, involving me and a sweet potato casserole. It was three different nights of great friends and delicious feasts. So much feasting on mashed potatoes, sweat potato casserole, cheese, and even tacos. And I haven’t even mentioned the desserts. Boozy affogatos, pumpkin pie, ice-cream cookie sandwiches, peanut butter blondies. I consumed at least three of each of these last week.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Blondies…need I say more?

After the holiday festivities ended and it was time to get back to work, it was hard to skip the pie, chocolate and ice cream. The sugar, cheese, and wine hangovers last a little longer every year, leaving my body craving more of the decadent dishes I’d had for days on end. Any time I felt super tired and sluggish around 4pm, my first thought was to grab coffee and a bar of chocolate, only to crash later into a not so restful sleep. That is until I realized I could get my festive-fill and restore my body to it’s fully functioning state simultaneously with some smoothie magic.
